Mobile File Cabinets

     When it comes to mobile file cabinets it can apply to most every kind and style available, just picture it with rollers or casters for easy mobility and it becomes a Mobile File cabinet.

     For an example of my Mobile file cabinets I selected a picture of one that is a little bit unique or different from most other file cabinets. It is a silver file cabinet that features all metal construction with a plastic molded top and locking drawers for security. It is equipped with Five Casters to allow for easy movement and stability. There are two 3 inch high storage drawers and one letter or legal size file drawer. This model fits neatly under most 30 inch high desks and comes fully assembled.

     There are many more styles available and you should be able to find even a Wood File Cabinet designed as a mobile. One exception to a style being designed as a mobile will probably be the larger Lateral File Cabinets but even these can be had by special order in most cases.

      Some things to remember about mobile file cabinets. 

     Mobile file cabinets are excellent pieces of furniture. They function in much the same way as typical filing cabinets when it comes to document storage. They offer however, the extra advantage of being mobile so you can enjoy greater convenience. If you want to get one, there are three important points to have in mind.

Drawer Types

     Mobile cabinets are meant to fit under work spaces. This is why they are often meant to have only a maximum of two document file drawers. One Mobile type however can have only one document file drawer with two shallow top drawers for pencils and small office items. If maximum paper file storage is important for you, you should go for double file drawers.

Wheel Mechanism

     Different models have different wheel types. Wheels can be locked or unlocked, fixed or swivel, hidden or visible, large or small. Your choice of wheel type would depend on your mobility and stability preferences. Swivel wheels are easier to move around. Large optionally locking wheels offer greater stability. Hidden wheels are more visually attractive.

Anti Tip Feature

     Some file cabinets tip when top drawers are filled with heavy files or items. Some also tip when multiple drawers are open. You should check if a particular cabinet model is prone to tipping before you buy it.

     Mobile file cabinets indeed offer great convenience. To really get the best out of a unit though, you need to make sure it has all the best elements and features for your particular needs.
